"Great Grains: Cooking with the Dietitians" - Combined Shelton & Allyn Diabetes Support Group Meeting in April

SHELTON, Wash. – Whole grains in your diet are healthy, economical and can be made into delicious meals – and for the prevention and management of diabetes, grains can be helpful in regulating blood glucose levels.  Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics’ Diabetes Wellness Center will be hosting a cooking demonstration entitled, “Great Grains: Cooking with the Dietitians”.  The class combines MGH&FC’s April Shelton and Allyn Diabetes Support Group meetings, and takes place on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Mason Transit Authority Center’s Community Kitchen at 601 W. Franklin St. in Shelton.

            MGH&FC Registered Dietitians and Certified Diabetes Educators Sarah Fulkerson and Debbie McGinnis will demonstrate how to prepare simple and delicious dishes using healthy grains that the whole family can enjoy.  Come out and learn the health benefits of whole grains, sample the food and take home the recipes!

MGH&FC’s Diabetes Support Group meetings are free and designed to support, encourage and inform everyone in the community about diabetes and how it can be prevented and managed.  The Shelton and Allyn Diabetes Support Groups are affiliated with the American Diabetes Association and normally meet at separate times and locations. The Shelton Group meets at MGH every third Thursday of the month and the Allyn Group meets in the Port of Allyn building’s meeting room every fourth Thursday of the month, from September to June.
