Cassandra Cartwright - MGH&FC June Employee of the Month

Release Date: Jul 17, 2019

SHELTON, Wash. – When it comes to caring for the youngest patients who come into MGH&FC for treatment, Oakland Bay Pediatrics is proud to have Cassandra Cartwright, CMA, as part of its clinical team.  Cassie’s understanding, and handling of a child having a difficult experience at the Clinic is highly valued, and she was recently selected as MGH&FC’s June Employee of the Month.

“Cassie has developed a relationship of respect and compassion with the young patients, and watching her work has been endearing and gratifying,” said her nominator. “Many of her patients refuse help from any other team member.”

A certified medical assistant at Oakland Bay Pediatrics for nearly five years, Cassie didn’t know she would find fulfillment working with children in a pediatris setting. She has a way of talking to kids that is both comforting and inspiring to them.

“I like working here because if I can make a kid smile when they’re having a bad day – it’s all worth it,” she said.

After completing her Associate of Arts degree at Green River College in Auburn, Cassie went on to do her Certified Medical Assistant studies at Everest College while working as an in-home caregiver for the developmentally disabled with Placeone Residential Care in Olympia.

The third in a family of four siblings, Cassie grew up in a town next to Mt. Rainier where she attended Orting High School. When she graduated in 2007, Cassie went on to health care studies unsure of what specialty she wanted to work in until she found how much she enjoyed working at Oakland Bay Pediatrics.

Cassie lives with her boyfriend, Robert and her two cats, Lion-o and Nimbus. When not attending to the needs of young patients at the Clinic, she tries to make it into the gym three times a week to train for powerlifting competitions.  Cassie has competed eight times, and in 2016 won gold in the deadlift competition for the US Powerlifting Association.
