Cancer Wellness Workshop at MGH in July

Release Date: Jul 01, 2019

SHELTON, Wash.  A cancer diagnosis is a life-changing event, and one that is best understood and met with the help of those who know the journey. For that reason, Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics partnered with the Karen Hilburn Cancer Fund and Harmony Hill Retreat Center to offer a support program to those affected by cancer. The Cancer Wellness Program is a series of workshops that are held every second Wednesday of the month until January 2020, and the next one is on Wednesday, July 10 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Pershing Meeting Room at Mason General Hospital.

Introducing a new topic each month, Harmony Hill faculty member, Melissa Layer, MA, LMHC-A, guides the class, helping people build confidence, emotional strength and coping strategies for their best possible outcome.  The workshops include supportive discussion, gentle movement and creative arts to promote self-care and positive change, and are free and open to anyone affected by cancer, including those in survivorship, their companions and caregivers.

Space is limited, so early registration is advised. For more information and to register, call Kelly Mattheis, patient navigator, at (360) 432-7706 or email patientnavigator@masongeneral.com.
