Amanda Diaz - MGH&FC's November Employee of the Month

Release Date: Jan 04, 2019

In the words of her nominator, “Amanda has impacted our department in such a positive way. Her low-key approach to all situations, even urgent and critical, makes everyone calmer and work more effectively. We are all very excited she has chosen to become part of our family.”

Amanda joined the medical staff in Mason General Hospital’s Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics Department (MSP) in 2015, and moved to the ICU two years ago. She completed her BSN degree at the South Dakota State University Nursing Program in 2014, after doing an undergraduate program at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA.

“I have enjoyed my job at MGH with such great co-workers,” Amanda said. “This Hospital has a strong community outreach that everyone benefits from, and a great Continuing Education program.”

Amanda has taken advantage of the upgrading courses offered at MGH to better herself for the job. “She is very knowledgeable and seeks out educational opportunities… sharing the information with her co-workers to make our department better and stronger,” her nominator added.

Growing up in Shelton and attending Shelton High School, Amanda is second-generation to the area. She was delivered at Mason General Hospital by Dr. Timothy Weber, Shelton Family Medicine, and is about to give birth there as well. Amanda and her significant other, William (Willie) are excited about the upcoming birth of their first child together. They are also raising Willie’s six year old daughter, Olivia, who eagerly anticipates the arrival of her new sibling.

Amanda will take a three-month maternity leave very soon. Her co-workers look forward to her return, and choosing her as Employee of the Month has been a reminder of how very much loved and appreciated she is in the ICU.
