Within
minutes, $32,000 was raised during Fantasy Forest’s
2006 Annual Grand Gala Dinner & Live Auction “Fund-an-Item” to
purchase three new Ohio 3400 baby warmers – two stationary,
and one portable to keep MGH’s precious newborns warm.
Newborn
babies get cold very easily due to emerging wet, after being
used to living in 98.6 degree draft-free “rooms”, and having a lot of body surface
area relative to their size. The Ohio 3400 warmer is where all newborns at
MGH are now placed as part of their birth experience – thanks to the
generous donors in 2006.
The
warmer - pre-warmed for every delivery, is used after the baby is first kept
warm by being dried quickly and held close by Mom. The baby then goes
to the warmer for his or her first examination, and later for the first bath. If
complications occur, the warmer provides safe and controlled heat for continued
treatment and observation. The fully-equipped warmer also provides oxygen and
suction when it is needed, along with attachments for monitoring high-risk
babies, and drawers for routine and emergency supplies.
2007 Funding Birthing Beds
and Bronchoscope
Fantasy
Forest 2007 is reaching out to supporters to fund two much
needed pieces of equipment for Mason General Hospital. Funding
of two Stryker birthing beds and an Olympus Bronchoscope
are requested in order to continue Mason General Hospital’s
ability to provide support for the Family Practice/Birthing
Center and Internal Medicine areas. The Stryker birthing
beds, which will be used in MGH’s Birthing Center during
deliveries, offers the highest level of patient safety and
comfort while also providing safety and security to the medical
staff due to enhanced ergonomics, simple operation, and advanced
mobility.
For the
pulmonology specialists, the expanded Olympus Bronchoscope technology will
provide state-of-the-art imaging in a High Definition format which will give
the medical staff and surgeons the ability to immediately intercede and treat
lung tissue on-site in patient care needs.
To
accomplish this, nearly $40,000 will need to be raised during
the annual “Fund-an-Item” event at the Saturday evening
dinner and auction. If you would like to make a tax-deductible
donation to help purchase these pieces of equipment call the
Development Office at (360) 427-3623. Credit Card payments are
accepted. Return to Fantasy Forest Home Page |
