2008 Fund-An-Item Receives Outstanding Support at Fantasy Forest
for Digital Mammography
Every year attendees at the Fantasy Forest Gala and Auction on Saturday night donate funds to purchase new medical equipment for Mason General Hospital.
This year, the price tag for the new equipment – digital mammography – is $470,000.
You too can help fund the purchase of this equipment with a tax-deductible contribution.
To make your year-end, tax-deductible contribution, please call Jennifer Capps, chief development officer, Mason General Hospital Foundation, at (360) 427-3623; or you may also send an e-mail to jcapps@MasonGeneral.com.
Year-end gifts of appreciated stock, pledges, multi-year commitments, and major credit card payments are accepted. Contributions may also be made in honor or in memory of loved ones this holiday season. Please be sure to return your contribution in the remittance envelope in the this issue of SCOPE.
Mason General Hospital Foundation is reaching out to supporters to complete the funding of a new, state-of-the-art digital mammography for Mason General Hospital. Funding of this equipment is critical to continuing Mason General Hospital’s ability to provide quality healthcare and superb support for radiology and diagnostic service areas. The digital mammography equipment, which will be used in MGH’s Diagnostic Imaging Department, offers the highest level of patient diagnostic service as it relates to early cancer detection and treatment.
Digital mammography can significantly reduce the overall radiation dose to breast tissue, in part because images may be manipulated on-screen in such a way that additional exposures aren’t necessary. These advantages are primarily experienced by women under 50, women with dense breast tissue, and pre-menopausal women. However, an additional benefit for all mammography patients is that the electronic storing of image data makes it almost immediately available to consulting physicians, essentially eliminating the problem of images on film becoming misplaced or lost in the mail.
Thank you in advance for your support of Mason General Hospital and Mason General Hospital Foundation.
2008 Memorial Ornament
Each year, during Mason General Hospital Foundation’s Fantasy Forest, there is a special memorial tree dedicated to people who passed away and who had been loyal supporters of the Foundation and Mason General Hospital.
This year’s memorial tree is dedicated to the memory of Lillian Peste, Ed Stock and Dr. Mark Trucksess.
The memorial ornament selected for the tree this year is a blown glass ball beautifully boasting iridescent, red and gold tones.
This ornament was made exclusively for Fantasy Forest 2008 by Bryan Rubino of Rubino Glass and will not be reproduced.
Memorial ornaments are purchased in memory of those who have passed away or in honor of those who are loved.
Their names and the purchasers’ names are recorded in a memory book on display by the memorial tree. The ornaments are displayed on the memorial tree for the duration of Fantasy Forest. The purchasers receive their ornaments the week after the final day of events. The ornaments may be picked up at the Development Office after Monday, December 8, 2008 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or arrangements made with the Development Office for later pickup or delivery. Proceeds from the memorial ornaments benefit Public Hospital District No.1, consisting of Mason General Hospital, Oakland Bay Pediatrics, Mt. View Surgical Services, Mason County Eye Clinic and North Mason Medical Clinic. Each ornament will be boxed, containing the purchaser’s name and the person for whom it was dedicated.
To purchase a memorial ornament, please download and complete this form and either mail it to: MGHF, PO Box l668, Shelton, WA 98584, or take the completed form to the Development Office located in Gateway Center behind McDonalds.
The deadline for accepting orders is Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Orders placed after this date will be displayed but may not have the memorial tag. If you have any questions or need more information, please call Meghan at the Development Office at (360) 427-3623. Thank you.
