Pharmacy


Clinical Pharmacist

1.0 (40 hrs/wk) benefit eligible, day shift, variable days of the week. Clinical Pharmacist at a rapidly progressing critical access hospital. This position will work in a newly established outpatient anticoagulation clinic and will also provide inpatient services as well.

Job responsibilities Include: Dose and manage outpatient anticoagulation therapy, interpret and evaluate inpatient and outpatient medication orders; utilize medication protocols to ensure safe and effective pharmacotherapeutic regimens; ensure appropriate ordering, preparation, packaging, delivery, storage, and monitoring of medications; manage pharmacy support personnel and pharmacy work areas; ensure compliance with established policies, procedures and regulatory standards as well as the values of the department, institution, and profession; provide education and advice to clinical staff and patients.

Requirements: A PharmD degree from an accredited school of pharmacy along with at least 3 years of clinical experience with anticoagulation dosing or a residency is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, with a minimum of five years of clinical experience (including anticoagulation) or an acute care residency, will also be considered. Current Washington State pharmacist license, or eligibility for licensure, by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy; knowledge of generally accepted pharmacy principles, practices, and all aspects of institutional pharmacy drug distribution; knowledge of clinical pharmacy practices (i.e. patient assessment, kinetic dosing, anticoagulation management, and the ability to communicate and collaborate with providers), are required.

Duties include answering phones, work order processing, maintaining preventative maintenance program, filing, pagers, paging system, order processing, purchase order processing, assist with budget tracking, extensive project tracking involving budget tracking on expenses incurred, small works roster, newspaper advertisements, billing for outside services, payroll/timekeeping, policy and procedure manuals, graphs, compiling reports, assist in annual budget configuration/preparation and maintaining vendor list. Extensive experience with Excel, outlook, and Microsoft Word required.

Supports revenue capture and charge master compliance through analysis of departmental charge capture, coding, and billing processes. Employs advanced knowledge and skill in the areas charge capture, charge master maintenance, coding, and billing processes to develop and improve processes and tools; provides related training. Excellent verbal/written skills required. Must be able to work independently and have excellent attendance. 5 plus years in hospital billing and collections with in depth knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid.
